Come on a JNK HNT with us. When we add U sitting in your little corner of the world it will be a Junk Hunt of global excitement.
Open only to subscribers of our newsletter (join here now), the JNK HNT is organised for June 8, World Ocean’s Day.
You can adopt any waterway for the JNK HNT: a drain, a creek, a river, a dam, a pond or frozen lake. It does not need to be the ocean but you do need to commit to cleaning your chosen water way up.
Safety comes first when near waterways so please ALWAYS keep an eye on children and wear gloves/shoes if required.
Register for the JNK HNT by leaving a comment below including what waterway you want to clean up. I’ll email you some World Ocean’s Day advertising material (like the groovy logo left) that you can use wherever you want (blogs, newsletters, etc) to help spread the marvelous work you are doing to clean up our waterways.
At 4.30 am on the morning of June 8 (Australian time so some of you will get the list the day before) a list of waterway clean-up tasks are released through our newsletter. Participants and their team (you can co-op your family or friends into a team of up to 6 people as long as I know who is in your team) are to work through the list and complete as many of the tasks as possible during the day of June the 8th. Many of the tasks involve loading a photo of you doing a particular task onto your facebook page and tagging in The Junk Wave (so make sure you are a “liker” so you can tag us).
There are points for every task.
Send your completed tasks in to Megan Bayliss no later than midnight on the 8th June in YOUR country.
WINNER: The person with the most points wins one each of our recycled craft DIY kits. In the event of a tie, you will each be given other tasks and the first one to complete those tasks is deemed the winner. The winner also gets to be our Ocean Guardian of the week with an interview about them and their life on our blog and linked to our social media hangouts (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn).
SECOND PLACE: The second highest points wins four of our recycled craft DIY kits of their choosing and get to feature on our facebook page.
THIRD PLACE: The third highest points wins two DIY recycled craft kits and gets to feature on our facebook page.
And of course, first, second and third place holders also get mega accolades through our newsletter that goes across the world. This means that many nationalities will get to see what you did in your country for the environment. It’s a bit like having environmental mega-star status really.
