Learn how to make uber trendy and green handbags from food wrappers: chip and lolly packets, muesli, ice-cream and biscuit wrappers, etc.
Make yourself a bag, just like the one below, AND keep plastic out of landfill and off our oceans.
Peace Lutheran Outside School Hours Care proudly offers the Cairns community a workshop on making bags from food wrappers.
When: Saturday 12th November, 2011, 9am – 1pm
Where: Peace Outside School Hours Care building, “Parents & Friends Building” Peace Lutheran College, Harley Street, Kamerunga. (2 driveways on the right past the kindy)
Who: Teens or adults….anyone who wants to learn how to weave bags from food wrappers. This workshop is not suitable for little children or babies to attend.
What to bring: A pair of scissors and a biro or marker pen. Plus…wash any food packaging you may like the colours of and bring it along to begin making your bag. I use Cherry Ripe wrappers, chip packets, dog and cat food, etc. I’ll have a good choice at the workshop but why throw your waste in the rubbish when somebody else at the workshop may really want to make a bag out of your blue cat food packet, or pink salt and vinegar chip packets.
Cost: $30.00 (includes full instruction and handouts to take away with you)
The workshop includes a theory part on waste, recycling and sustainability before the tuition on how to cut and fold your plastic food wrappers, how to link the chains and how to assemble your bag (or sit-upon if that is what you would prefer).
The workshop is compliant with some national training package units. If you are studying a Cert III, IV or Diploma, speak to Megan to see if the training can be used for full or partial RPL for units in your course.
