So many reusable “plastic lid” crafts are child centric. Check out just some of the child focused variety here: How to reuse plastic bottle lids and caps, or this gardening idea here: Reuse plastic lids to grow herbs.
However, here’s two beautiful, and fashionably green, recyclable plastic lid ideas for we grownups (full tutorials with “how to” pictures are on WikiHow – the guys that own the copyright of the tuts and the pics I’ve used here. Many thanks to them for some FANTASTIC ideas):
- Cut a rectangular piece of plastic out of the flat part of a plastic bottle, as shown. Adjust to fit snugly inside the cap (about 10.5 cm x 2 cm).
- Put a little glue on the side that will go into the cap, and insert.
- Cover with another cap of the same size.
- Decorate the lid with plastic beads as you wish.
Make two holes with a push pin.
Pass a string through the holes.
Cut cloth into a circle of about 2.5 times of diameter of cap’s diameter.
Make a running stitch just inside the edge, all the way around.
Wrap some recycled fill in the circle, then tighten the thread by pulling on the needle so that it wraps around the cotton securely.
Glue the cushion to the bottle cap.
